Our History

Dr. Rev. Domenic Polifrone was the founder and pastor of First Church of Religious Science in Nyack, NY in the 1980’s.  In 1987, Dr. Domenic relocated to California to co-pastor the Hollywood Church of Religious Science with Dr. Robert Bitzer.  Dr. Domenic went on and founded the New Thought Center of Los Angeles.  In 1996, the New Thought Center and the Hollywood Church merged, and Dr. Domenic became the Spiritual Director until 2000. 


After Dr. Domenic’s relocated to California, Rev. Sam Goff became the Pastor of the First Church of Religious Science in Nyack, NY. After Rev. Goff’s tenure, the church was renamed the Nyack Church of Religious Science under the leadership of Rev. Aubree Lynn. In December 2008, the name of the Church was changed to the current name, Rockland Center for Spiritual Living. 


On March 1, 2012, Rockland Center for Spiritual Living officially affiliated with Centers for Spiritual Living headquartered in Golden, Colorado.


After Rev. Aubree’s tenure, Rev. Jennifer Berkeley became the Interim Minister in July 2012. 


In June 2013, Rev. Jennifer was installed as its Spiritual Director/Senior Minister.  In 2014, the Center moved from Nyack to Tappan, NY. Rev. Jennifer retired from pulpit ministry in December 2020. 


In January 2021, Rev. Penny Macek became the Interim Minister during the search for a new Spiritual Director/Senior Minister.


August 1, 2021, Rev. Melissa Moorer-Nobles became the Spiritual Director/Senior Minister.

Rockland CSL currently holds Sunday Services at Rhino Comedy in Suffern, NY.
